Milestones: Get full control over your contracts' most important dates
A signed contract is only the beginning. To ensure that the agreement is upheld and that you never miss an important deadline, Handsal has a built-in system for managing Milestones. With milestones you can automate your follow-up, so you can spend your time on the business instead of watching the calendar.
When you upload a document, Handsal automatically tries to read and suggest relevant dates. You can choose to use these suggestions or manually add your own milestones to ensure 100% accuracy.
The 5 milestone types in Handsal
- Start: This is the date when the agreement takes effect. It is particularly useful in cases where the contract is signed well in advance (e.g. in November), but where the cooperation or service is not due to start officially until 1 January.
- Expiry: Here you mark the exact date when the agreement ends completely. It gives you an overview of when a cooperation is concluded, so you are not left without coverage or service.
- Renewal: The date when you or your counterpart have the opportunity – or must decide – to renew the agreement. By setting a milestone here, you ensure that you have time to evaluate the cooperation before it automatically continues.
- Indexation: A critical date for many companies' finances. This is the latest deadline for notifying possible price increases or adjustments according to the price index, so you secure your contribution margins.
- Notice: This type is used for all the other important dates you define yourself. It could be when you must call a steering group meeting, when you need to submit an updated version of a deliverable, or a reminder about a specific project deadline.
Smart notifications and memory
Handsal lets you tailor your reminders in ways that set it apart:
- Choose your channel: You can choose to receive notifications directly via email, as a message in the Handsal portal or both.
- Stay ahead: You decide how many days before the actual date you want to be notified. That way you have time to prepare before the deadline hits.
- Attach a note for the future: We know it can be difficult to remember the details in two years when an alarm suddenly goes off. That is why you can attach a personal note to each milestone. Here you can write exactly what you need to do and why you set the reminder (e.g. "Remember to check the indexation clause in Appendix B before notifying"). The note is shown together with your notification, so you are quickly up to date.
